Dreaming of Spring

As much as I love winter (no, seriously) I can't help thinking that the first day of spring is only a month away. Soon enough we'll be gardening and camping and making flower crowns in the finally-warm sun.

So, I just thought I'd put together some dream outfits. Shorts, sunglasses, you know that sort of thing. Although truthfully, lately, we've been getting some 70 degree days out here and have been wearing those things already. Unfortunately they don't last and tomorrow is supposed to be in the 40s. Yeah...

My Corner of the World in June

Firstly, I'm so sorry that this is so late. We're already a week into July. I must start remembering. Anyhow, this June was an fantastic month here in my corner of the world. Plenty of Black-eyed Susans, blooming Crape Myrtle trees, Coneflowers, sunflowers, hydrangea, magnolia and lavender. I even spotted some late-blooming Wisteria! Aside from the flowers there was also big blue skies, green trees and lots of beautiful birds. Here's some pictures from the beautiful month.

Happy First Day of Summer!

Wow, believe it or not but I just realized today is the first day of summer. I've just been so busy that I forgot all about it. So happy summer, guys! Sorry it's so late.

Funny, I'm usually not that excited about summer but for some reason this year I have been and real I'm happy that it's here. I don't even mind that it's taken my wonderful and beautiful spring away. Because for one thing I think this year I really got my share of that season. I was out constantly, I almost always had the windows open so I could hear the birds, I took a gazillion pictures to capture it all that way and the whole time I was really drinking it all in. I don't think I could have experienced it any more than I did this year.

And also, as I said, I'm looking forward to summer. The smell of fresh cut grass, the awesome sounds of crickets and cicadas, outstandingly gorgeous summer flowers (like one of my new favorites, Black-eyed Susans), trips to the beach, fully green trees, blue skies, puffy clouds, perfect picnics and that overwhelming and beautiful sense of summer. It sounds great.

Colonial Nursery

I know I say it all the time but man, I just love Williamsburg. I think it's pretty safe to say that it's my favorite place in the world. So filled with beautiful architecture, outstanding gardens, history and just a wonderful atmosphere. It's just perfect to me. Oh how I long to live there one day. But at least I'm close. Anyhow, here are some pictures from the beautiful Colonial Nursery.

My Corner of the World in May

First of all, I apologize for this being so late. I have had so much on my mind and I forgot all about it. Secondly, and this may come as a great shock (since I almost always say in these, something to the effect of, "oh the month went by so fast."), May actually was a lot slower than most of the months have been. I mean, I was just as happy, had just as much fun but it just went by real slow. Don't get me wrong, I'm super happy about that, I mean like amazingly overjoyed. It was great to finally have a great month that went by at a nice and slow pace. Unfortunately, I can already tell that June is not going to be like that (I think). How was your May?

Happy June!

By the way, happy first day of Dairy Month, Great Outdoors Month, National Adopt-A-Cat Month, National Drive Safe Month, National Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Month, National Iced Tea Month and National Rose Month. A lot, isn't it?

Five Senses Friday - My Version

Today, I'm playing along with Abby Powell from Abby Try Again with the Five Senses Friday series. It looks like loads of fun (I just love that kind of stuff). But I warn you though, it probably won't be very good. Anyhow, here goes.

Seeing:

roses and honeysuckle start to bloom

Tasting:

toast with grape jelly and delicious herbal tea like I've been having every morning now for the past week

Hearing:

the score from "To Kill a Mockingbird" for the first time (Too beautiful for words, I'm close to tears. Already I'd recommend it to anyone.)

Smelling:

the roses and honeysuckle mentioned above

Feeling:

the warmth of upcoming summer

P.S. Why don't you play along too? More people should, it's great fun.

My Corner of the World in April

What a lovely month April was. Filled with all kinds of springy goodness. Beautiful flowers, lovely singing birds, spring showers and green everywhere. I just adore that month. But May is good too and I'm looking forward to it. More springy goodness ahead.
