Birthday Wish List

My birthday is in a few days and I thought it might be fun to make a wish list, just something with a few cool things I've been wanting lately. Thankfully though, I have some wonderful, amazing grandparents who knew exactly what I really wanted most of all. They donated $70 to the brilliant organization Samaritan's Purse for me. How cool is that!? (And because I know you guys are reading this, thanks.) Now if I can just get everybody to do this for me for Christmas.

1. Help! dvd 2. What Lies Beneath dvd 3. Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix on vinyl. 4. Swingin' Chicks of the '60s book (it has Diana Rigg!) 5. Canon AE-1 35mm Camera

Things I'm Loving Lately

1. Angus and Julia Stone

2. The Lord of the Rings series. I'm reading them for the first time, so very much loving them.

3. Classic video games. I may be far from being an '80s kid but Pacman and Frogger can still remind me of when I was little (Pacman especially) and that there is already enough to make it awesome.

4. Amanda Pulley's photostream. (photos via and via)

5. J. Crew's spring 2011 line. Can you believe it's March!?

6. Cinnamon buns for breakfast.

7. Swans. They're so beautiful! (photo via)

8. This bedroom. Seriously, everything about it.

Rings I've Been Loving

Man, both of these ideas are so awesome. The rings on the left are from Littlefly are made from books (yes, books) and the rings on the right are from Billy Bride and made from, well you can see what they're made of. But aren't they neat? Not to mention so lovely. And the Littlefly rings are so pretty and fun! Also, each ring is impossible to replicate, and so is totally unique to the wearer.

Words of Wisdom

"I believe in sleeping in. I believe in giving 100% when you only have 80. I believe in kisses on the forehead. I believe in long kisses, smiling till your cheeks hurt, and laughing until you have tears in your eyes. I believe in having someone tell you that you’re beautiful. I believe in having someone play with your hair. I believe in sitting on swings and running in the rain. I believe in miracles and random acts of kindness. I believe in saying hello to anyone and everyone. I believe in second chances. And most of all, I believe in love." - Unknown

An Apple a Day...

Why is it that apples only sound especially good when my mouth is hurting so much that I can't eat them? (It's these darn braces. Those of you out there who have never had to go through this torture consider yourself very lucky.) I don't even realize that my mouth hurts so much until I bite into the apple. And then man does it hurt. I guess I'll just have to start cutting them up.

While on the subject of apples though, I was just reading a list of the health benefits of apples and I was really very pleasantly surprised. Aparently apples can help protect and strengthen bones, help with asthma, help prevent Alzheimer's, lower cholesterol, help prevent all kinds of cancers (lung cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer and liver cancer) help with diabetes management and even help with weight loss. Makes you want to eat more apples, doesn't it?

Happy Lists!

I'm super crazy about The Rockstar Diaries' happy lists. She gets different people to make a list of ten random things that make them terribly happy and they end up being just happy in themselves and so much fun too.

It's such an neat-o idea and just reading them makes you happy yourself. (At least that's the case with me.) Check them out, you won't be disappointed.

P.S What makes you terribly happy?

If I Could Do Anything Today ...

I'd visit a home library with shelves filled with good books.

I'd swing for hours on a tree swing.

I'd write lots of letters (not e-mails) to friends.

I'd go for a walk on a scenic path.

I'd go play around on my antique typewriter in my room.

I'd experiment with some of the makeup I got for Christmas.

Or I'd find an old abandon tree house to fix up like in that movie Bridge to Terabithia.
