Links For The Last July Weekend

Hello lovely dears! And happy weekend. I hope you've got some spectacular plans. Me, I'm hoping to be just savoring the last moments of July this weekend. More watermelon, popsicles (that taste like jolly ranchers!), outdoor record playing and reading on the porch. Among other things. Meanwhile, the links...

Simple, perfect.

I might just try this this weekend too.

The be all, end all of popsicle roundups.

How fun would these be for an outdoor summer dinner party?

Loving this rad getup.

And for all you indie lovers out there (or anyone who enjoys my 'music mondays') check out this awesome amazon deal! Dozens of lovely MP3 albums for only $5 each. Ends tomorrow.

p.s. book recommendation for the week: the hunger games. read it! it's really as great as everybody says.

Music Monday - Willoughby

I'm really digging the sounds of this LA band, Willoughby lately. So chill, so mellow and brilliantly written music. Plus the lead singer's voice is perfect, I'm in love! Oh yeah, and then there's this awesome creepy music video with monsters and igors and even some really pretty dresses and hats. Check out some of there other stuff here too, it's all great.

p.s. yes, i know it's tuesday.

Words of Wisdom

"Everybody has a secret world inside of them. All of the people of the world, I mean everybody. No matter how dull and boring they are on the outside, inside them they’ve all got unimaginable, magnificent, wonderful, stupid, amazing worlds. Not just one world. Hundreds of them. Thousands maybe." - Neil Gaiman, The Sandman

Music Monday - Florence + The Machine

After reading Nylon's briliant interveiw with Florence Welch (pg. 144) the other day I have been listening to her music nonstop. I had forgotten how much I loved it! And her for that matter. And this song is pretty much garenteed to put you in a wonderful mood too!

Music Monday - Gene Kelly

Not a very original music monday perhaps but a classic is always good as well. And who doesn't like Singin' in the Rain anyways? Every song in that movie gives an instant cheer-up: bright, happy, bubbly, the untimate a-1, can't-beat-it musical.

And for more fun there's also these: my absolute favorite track from the film and the wonderful Gene Kelly once again, this time tap dancing on roller skates! Just in case you need some extra early week cheer or just because.

Music Monday - Laura Veirs

Been really loving this Laura Veirs song lately and how perfect is it for today? Espicially with it's music video's peach fireworks lighing up the paper sky. I also love all the animals in this, makes me want a camping trip even more. I've been dreaming about bonfires and boating for weeks. Oh well, for now fireworks and ice cream is certainly good enough. Happy Music Monday and Independence Day everybody!

p.s. and how beautiful is that album artwork? i love it!

Daydreams

It's all I can do lately to not favorite every one of Colour Lover's beautiful photographs on her flickr photostream. Every photo! So beautiful, so inspiring, I'm on the verge of exploding every time I'm on there.

Okay, so that was more than a weekend...

... But I had a lot to do. I'm back now, promise.
