Music Monday - Gene Kelly

Not a very original music monday perhaps but a classic is always good as well. And who doesn't like Singin' in the Rain anyways? Every song in that movie gives an instant cheer-up: bright, happy, bubbly, the untimate a-1, can't-beat-it musical.

And for more fun there's also these: my absolute favorite track from the film and the wonderful Gene Kelly once again, this time tap dancing on roller skates! Just in case you need some extra early week cheer or just because.

Someone should make a list of all the coolest tumblr blog ideas. Thus far I've found a blog all about beards, a blog all for old hollywood, a blog all about cats and now a blog dedicated to awesome people hanging out together. It just keeps getting better and better baby.

Words of Wisdom

“I want a life that sizzles and pops and makes me laugh out loud. And I don’t want to get to the end, or to tomorrow, even, and realize that my life is a collection of meetings and pop cans and errands and receipts and dirty dishes. I want to eat cold tangerines, and sing out loud in the car with the windows open, and wear pink shoes, and stay up all night laughing, and paint my walls the exact color of the sky right now. I want to sleep hard on clean white sheets, and throw parties, and eat ripe tomatoes, and read books so good they make me jump up and down.” - Shauna Niequist

Rags and Tatters

I have seriously fallen in love with the blog Rags and Tatters. It's gorgeous! It's like, if Anne Shirley ever had a blog, this would be it. Filled with all kinds of magical and fairy tale like stuff which I tend to adore and just all sorts of beautiful, beautiful things. Definitely a blog to check out.

New Bicycle

All right, I promised I'd show you that bicycle I was telling you all about earlier so I guess I must. It's not that I'm not super excited about it, it's just I have yet to get any really good pictures of it. But this will just have to work.

It has a pretty awesome story behind it, this bike. I'm still sort of in shock about finding it, I guess I'm just lucky. You see, my mom and I were thrift store shopping and just as we were about to leave the store my mom spotted this. She, of course, got super excited and pulled me over to where it was. And it was just what I had been looking for. (You see, before this I really had no bike.) Vintage, my size, super rad looking, you get the idea. And not only that but it was at a thrift store, a place noted for it's low prices. It ended up being only $40, imagine that?

Thimble Planters

I've mentioned before on here how much I love moss and because of that naturally I would think these were adorable. Aren't they though? Little vintage thimble planters. I love that! Oh and get this, they come with complete instructions on how to care for the moss. Isn't that cute?

Vintage Postcards

For a while my little sister collected vintage postcards. Anytime we went into an antique store that would always be the place she would head too first and after a while she had quite a collection of them. During that time I really got into them too. I still think they're pretty cool. And I love them how they're used here, as gift tags. So cool.

Smith & Co.

Man, aren't these print reproductions from Smith & Co. so awesome? I find them simply inspiring. These two here are from the late 1800s. I especially love the top one. It's from a handwriting lesson. Isn't that neat?

Retro Nautical Wedding

I've always adored the whole vintage nautical look and this wedding here is full of it. Just look at those old Coca Cola crates, those bottles and those colors! (And while your looking, check out that gorgeous wedding dress.) I just think it all rocks.

How about this idea? Using vintage postcards as place cards. I just love it, it's so clever and cute.

Random Audrey Hepburn Fact

Did you know that for about a year (1958-59) Audrey Hepburn had a pet dear? Look, he even shopped with her. I guess since she was a celebrity and everything they let her take him in. How cool!

Surprise Ball

Well I know what to try and do now for a few birthdays coming up. I think that this surprise ball is outstandingly awesome and such a clever, prefect gift. The thing is, you unravel the ball and as you do you uncover all of the cool vintage stuff inside, piece by piece. If I made one it wouldn't be rare vintage stuff from all over the world granted, but I think I could make it work with a little practice. For now I'll just swoon over this one here.

Fantastic surprise balls available here.
