Beautiful nature sketches are among my most favorite things. And these lovelies by William Berry (1926-1978) are some of the best I think I've ever seen. Berry was an animal artist who did very few finished paintings, but lots of field sketches like these. For three summers, from 1954-1956, he worked in Camp Denali in the Alaskan countryside, recording his observations of bear, moose, voles, porcupines and lynx. After seeing these, I want to go to Alaska more than ever.
